I am not scared of hard work and commitment and have been successfully balancing sports, family, friends, and academics. Since the 6th grade I have been taking high school honors classes. I have maintained an exemplary grade point average, even with the schedule of all honors and IB classes. I have been named Academic All-State this year and Academic Team All-Conference First Team all three years I have played in high school. As a junior, I have earned my third varsity letter.
I am not the player who achieves awards for individual statistics. I believe I am the steady, consistent player, that keeps a high level of play on the court. I was top 3 on my school team for Kills and hitting percentage, top OH for blocks, highest serving percentage, top 3 for aces, and scored more than twice the number of aces than errors, highest on my team.
I was also given a huge honor of the Varsity Bulldog Award this season. It is given to the player as the top ambassador of our program and sport. My coach said I was devoted, dependable, consistent, and reliable regardless of pressure or situation and was the example for teamsmanship in the way I treated both my varsity team and the underclassmen.
In addition to volleyball, I was selected for Competition Chamber Choir for 22-23 academic year. I have also been selected as an Ambassador for the IP/CP program. I am an A+ tutor. I am a member of two extracurricular a cappella groups. I am also an equestrian (specifically dressage) and serve as a volunteer handler at a hippotherapy program for kids with special needs. Dealing with horses has shown me that you cannot control everything and you must be prepared to adjust to the circumstances, with a level head, patience, and kindness.
Whatever is asked, I adapt and make it happen. It is not my goal to be the star of any team, but to be what is needed, whenever it is needed for my volleyball family. I am steady under pressure on the court and get the job done.
Volleyball isn’t just a sport for me, my teams are my family.
