Ava Smith '25 Recruiting Profile

Hello my name is Ava Smith, I'm a junior at Oklahoma Union and this is my second year starting varsity as a middle hitter. Volleyball has been a second home to me for many years. Stepping on the court and playing the game I love the most is like a step away from reality. Volleyball has taught me many lessons over the years. Like when things get hard or stressful I just have to take a step back and reevaluate whats going on and work through it and that its okay to make mistakes, they’ll help you grow. I admire the positive atmosphere that the sport brings, how one persons energy affects everyone else on and off the floor. I also love working as a team, seeing my teammates succeed and accomplish their goals motivates me to do better. As an athlete I am very open minded, coachable and I maintain a positive attitude when my team needs it the most. I've learned that keeping a positive attitude is crucial to becoming successful. I've been a multi sport athlete my whole life. I have played sports since I was three, I am very good at balancing academics and athletics. I'm willing to put in hours to better myself and learn more about the game of volleyball.
