My name is Nellie Stagg and I am a junior at West Liberty High School. I started wrestling two years ago and have had the opportunity to wrestle for our varsity team both years. I have qualified for IGHSAU Girl's State Wrestling Tournament both years and placed 2nd at regionals this past season. I've received several awards from our coaching staff but the one I'm most proud of would be the Comet Award. The Comet Award goes out to the player on the team the coaches see as a valuable asset, who demonstrates outstanding leadership skills, and who shows support to their teammates on and off the mat. What sets me apart from many others is the value I put on the team. Even though wrestling is an individual event, your team is what helps to get you there. I believe that good morale and dynamics help me to be a better wrestler and person on and off the mat.
I am excited for the opportunities that college will bring me, both academically and athletically. I leaning toward a major in Kinesiology because I've seen the impact these professionals have on athletes and I'm intrigued by the way the human body operates. I want to help keep as many athletes healthy and at peak performance as I can. My hope is that I can continue to be a strong student, teammate, and athlete for your wrestling program.
