Personal Statement

When I was in eighth grade my dad took me to the high school I was going to attend to show me it since we bought a house in Temecula CA, and moved from Camp Pendleton, Marine Corps Base. They were hosting a wrestling tournament, and also at the same time they were having wrestling middle school club sign ups. After hearing my dads stories about his state placing in high school and Marine Corps grappling, I really wanted to wrestle and join the club. That same day I was able to see the tournament and at that point knew I wanted to wrestle in high school, and one day be a state wrestling champ and wrestle at the collegiate level and become a National Champion.

In ninth grade I wrestled at 220lbs at varsity level and also took 1st place at Frosh Southern California.  During my 10th grade year I wrestled at 195lbs and my record was 33-11, then took 3rd at California Interscholastic Federation wrestling championships. During 9th-11th grade I also played football, my 10th and 11th grade was at varsity level football starting on the offensive line.

Presently during my 11th grade year with a record of 40-8, I cut from 240lbs after football to 220lbs to wrestle during league went undefeated, then cut to 195lbs for league championships, then advanced to California Interscholastic Federation Southern Section (CIF) and placed 2nd. From there advanced to CIF Masters and placed. During all these years I built a very close relationship with my head coach John Santone, who was always there for me like my dad was for wrestling and still is.

My present collegiate goals is to obtain a academic and athletic scholarship for wrestling and achieve a degree in Biological Sciences and enter the medical field as an anesthesiologist.  My aspirations is to leave a legacy as a NCAA wrestling champion with an education for my future that will give me the capability of having a stable family and financial stability.

I believe what makes me a good candidate is my honesty and integrity that I was brought up with, also my obvious hard work, discipline for wrestling, and team work leadership principles I possess.  I also believe that my consistent level of achievement shows my hard work and dedication that I will bring to any college I attend through confidence and enthusiasm with an unselfish and humble character, plus the drive to always want to be better and learn through mentorship.

Some things that might make me different from other recruits is that I started in 8th grade not at five and it shows how fast I learn and want to succeed through dedication.  My character and discipline is very structured and followed through consistency due to my dad being in the United Stares Marine special ops and his values.  He taught my mindset to be very strong using visual techniques, regimented philosophies, and always telling me "in order to achieve you have to want it, as bad as you want to breathe". My mom being in the medical field and achieving her degree gave me insight and drive to go to college work hard and be proud to excel.  Also according to my California Standardized Testing I am considered advanced in my scoring measures, which shows my academic drive and student athlete capability. Lastly my whole life growing up during season I played basketball, football, and baseball which shows how diversified I am as an athlete.

During my Senior year I am devoting myself to focus on my academics, pre season wrestling, strength and conditioning, and speed and agility.  I want to prove to myself I can achieve my dream through a strong mindset, body and spirit,  leaving a strong positive legacy into my achieving goal.
