Outside of school, where I have achieved a 96.58 gpa, a 99.57 gpa so far into my senior year, and a 1510 on my first SAT attempt (770 Math, 740 English ), I have always loved sports. Although I did not begin wrestling until my sophomore year of high school (which I know is later than most athletes looking to compete in college), I have done sports all my life and am very devoted and dedicated to becoming the best wrestler and person possible.
As the senior captain this year, I have a record of 39-9 (30-7 at 144 lbs) with a 3rd place finish at the Central Connecticut Conference Tournament (largest in CT) and a 5th place finish at the Class L State Championship. I have had notable wins including a win over the Class M runner up, a major against the Class S 4th placer, and a 40 second pin against a Class S 6th placer.
My improvement from two years ago (my first year ever) not winning a varsity match to this past year where I was selected to the CIAC CCC All-Conference Team with a winning record of 19-10 reflects my work ethic and dedication. I am learning more and more each week and am utilizing my strength, conditioning, and unique flexibility to maximize my performance. I am confident my rapid improvement and dedication to the sport will allow me to become a competitive wrestler at the next level.
I take pride in working hard, not just in sports but in the classroom and through extracurricular activities. I have always made an effort to assure my future success as is reflected in my GPA. I also have worked to develop my character and dedication through various leadership roles. This has predominantly been accomplished through Boy Scouts of America through which I have earned the rank of Eagle with the Gold Palm, totaling over 100 hours of community service. I also recently won the Arthur M. and Berdena King Eagle Scout Contest award at the chapter level. My leadership was even recognized with the Rotary Youth Leadership Award last year.
I wrestled for the Fisheye Club team 5-6 days every week while also going to another wrestling gym on Sundays and lifting consistently with hopes for the chance to wrestle at one of the top academic schools in the country.
