While I started wrestling in middle school just for fun, now I'm wrestling with specific goals in mind. My goals are to strive to reach my full potential by sharpening my skills. Part of this journey includes pursuing a wrestling career in college. My goal for next year is to be state champ and dominate my weight class. One of my best wrestling accomplishments was when I qualified for the 16U USMC after my sophomore year in Greco-Roman. My academic goal is to increase my GPA so I can expand the possible colleges available to me.
I love to support my high school teammates on and off the mat. As the team Captain I lead my team in warmups, and I do everything I can to be a good example and to support my teammates. I have discovered that in order for our team to succeed we need to be all business during practice and especially during meets. My Junior year I was awarded MVP and "most takedowns" for my team. I came in first in my weight class in Districts and was ranked 7th in the state tournament. I am extremely competitive and always studying wrestling techniques as well as looking for ways to challenge myself. I am also interested in sports psychology and nutrition in supporting athletic pursuits.
My favorite thing to do is learn new attacks and techniques I can use in my matches to defeat my opponents. I feel a satisfaction that I am going to get even better which motivates me. I am attending several camps this summer, hoping to meet a variety of coaches who will be alongside me while I improve.
