Personal Statement

Hi my name is Mesiah Montoya. I have never had under a 3.0 GPA, and during the (2021-2022) wrestling season, I wrestled 113-106 lbs. As a Freshman, I took 5th in the JV State Championships tournament going 8-2. Also during the offseason, I wrestled in the Utah Greco/Freestyle State Championships taking 5th place In Freestyle and 6th place In Greco. In my Sophomore season (2022-2023)I wrestled 120-113 lbs. I was a District Champion, qualified for state, and placed 4th In the Utah Greco State Championships tournament. In my Junior season (2023-2024) I wrestled 120Ibs the whole season, I got ranked number 5 in the 5A rankings weight classifications, became a Region Champion, qualified for state for the second time, and was super close to placing in state championships but lost in the blood round. During the Freestyle and Greco Season, I placed 2nd in the Greco State Championships and 6th In the Freestyle State Championships tournament.

During this camp I got the opportunity to learn from Roman Bravo Young, Shayne Van Ness, Brock Hardy, and the head wrestling coach of the Sanderson Wrestling Academy, Cyler Sanderson. This 4 day camp helped me open my mind to learning new things, sharpen my skills, and made me more mentally tough for this upcoming wrestling season.
