My name is Nolan Mather and I am a rising 9th grader at Grassfield High School class of 2027. I’ve been wrestling since I was four with multiple clubs in the area and fill in when clubs are short a weight I can reach. I finished my season as back to back Chesapeake city champion at 80lbs and placed third at middle school states. This fall I’ll be wrestling 106lb weight class. My 8th grade season record is 25-6.
I am the youngest of four kids. My oldest brother is 20 and in the Marines, James (16), step-sister Kaydence (14) and then me. We are a very outdoors and sports focused family being involved in field hockey, football, wrestling, soccer, hunting, fishing and backpacking on the Appalachian Trail. My dad is currently active duty in the Navy having received his B.A. from the University of South Carolina and MBA from the Naval Post-Graduate School. My mom has since retired from the Navy after 20 years of enlisted and officer service where she earned her B.S.N. and post-graduate degrees from the University of South Carolina. I plan on going into the Marines like my dad and brother.
My future goals are to make varsity my freshmen year, state qualifier my sophomore year, state placer my junior year and win it all my senior year. Following high school, my plan is to go to college to wrestle the 125lb weight class and join the ROTC unit on campus. I look forward to building from last year, having a great freshman season and meeting all of you!
