Personal Statement
I became interested in baseball at a very young age, specifically 4 years old. I remember watching my older brother play recreational baseball and I have been hooked ever since. I have been blessed to participate in the Dizzy Dean Little League World Series and the Alabama state championship in which we placed 8th and 4th overall. Over the many years of my baseball career so far, I have learned focus, self control, and respect along with all of the skills that keep my physical life and baseball game up to par. Baseball has been a huge influence on who I am both physically and mentally. It has given me an outlet to express who I am while also shaping me into the young man that I am and the man that I hope to become.
Other than pursuing baseball, I would like to go into pre-med and study sports medicine with a specialty in surgery. I have shadowed a local orthopedic physician for a day already, and I plan to do the same with an orthopedic surgeon this summer. Throughout the rest of my high school years, I hope to graduate with an IB diploma and rack up as many AP college credits as possible. Some unique characteristics and qualities that I believe describe me are risk-taking, inquiring, communicative, balanced, and open-minded. I enjoy meeting challenges head on and succeeding at them. I also enjoy teaching people and working with people through difficult challenges. I think that these qualities have been refined over the years both by my baseball career and by the people that I choose to surround myself with.
