Personal Statement
Hey Coach, thank you for checking out my profile! I am Tyler Welsh, a 2021 graduate at Sabino High School in Tucson, AZ. I play baseball year round with my high school club team and BNL club team. I have been in love with the sport since T-ball! I am hard working, dedicated athlete, a skilled third baseman, first baseman and developing pitcher. I am active in our local community by supporting and volunteering with youth sports through our local YMCA, and through student government with my high school.
What I love about baseball is, it's a game of failure. Failure pushes me to do better, to be better, to work harder. Failure has taught me to never give up on myself or my teammates. Baseball has taught me the importance of being coachable, taking directions and criticism. I am a positive force for self and my team by showing leadership, respect, positivity and exhibiting good sportsmanship and values. I am looking to play baseball at a higher level, to better myself though education and opportunities that will be offered to me. I am excited for my future!
Most people who first meet me think I am reserved and quiet. I like to think of myself as a pretty simple guy who likes to play ball, have fun and apply myself to whatever I am doing. Outside of baseball I enjoy fishing, water-sports, ( I know AZ, not a lot of options for water here) hiking the desert trails, going to the gym with the guys, watching baseball when I'm not playing, spending time with my family, and going to the beach.
For my future academic goals, I am interested in a business degree, but know very well that there are many other opportunities that can arise once in college.
I am a very driven baseball player and have made a commitment to bettering myself on and off the field so I can be a good player as well as a good role model for excellence and dedication. I appreciate your time and I hope I can fit well with your program and hope to speak to you soon!
The Best,
Tyler Welsh
