As a scholar athlete, I remain positive, persevere and complete tasks when assigned. I’m passionate about playing baseball and my hard work has earned me the title of team captain (on my Pasadena High School, Bulldogs Baseball Team).
Baseball has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I played in the backyard as a toddler with whiffle balls and bats. I now play for my high school varsity team as well as a travel ball team. So many memories throughout the years revolve around my baseball experiences. Playing t-ball games, driving with my parents to far-away tournaments, early mornings and late nights. Eating snack bar burgers on bleachers. Free sodas after little league games. Running laps for missed balls and strikeouts. Making friends, sharing memories and winning! There’s also memories of loss and heartbreak. I strive to compete at a collegiate level, continuing my baseball career and all the feelings and memories to come.
Baseball drives me to be a better athlete, competitor and human being. I’ve learned so many life lessons playing the sport I love. How to be humble when I’m not at my best or in a rut. How to take criticism; being open and receptive to it. Being supportive when a teammate needs encouragement. Being aggressive and putting in hard work. Also, being competitive and rising to challenges.
I have a positive attitude, good work ethic, and get along well with my fellow students and teammates. I am disciplined and possess leadership skills. I enjoy a challenge and thrive participating in competitions. For these reasons, I hope and pledge to continue playing my beloved sport of choice, baseball.
