Hello Coaches!
My name is Alecsio Torrente and I'm a catcher at Chaminade Madonna College Prep, class of 2026.
Playing college ball is my goal and aspiration. I know what I am capable of, and I know what I can achieve if given the chance. I am blessed to play this game, and I will make the most of it and take it as far as I can. At the moment, my GPA sits at a 3.7 and I am taking two honor classes, Honors Geometry and Honors Spanish. I understand that both on and off the field it takes hard work. I handle being under pressure well and when it calls for it, I fight till the end at the plate to get the play
I got into the catching position on my 12u travel team as a back up and to be honest at that time I didn't like it, but I was good. My coaches motivated me to keep on with it and push and I'm glad I did. It was a position I never thought I'd be in but now that's all I want to do. Being able to see the whole field and be the one that calls the plays, etc., is an adrenaline rush to say the least.
What makes me a great candidate for any team is the fact that I'm a quick learner and I take constructive criticism well. I understand that in order to get better and be better I have to listen to my coaches and do what they tell me. My coach considers me a utility player, in one game I played outfield, then short stop and then catcher. I'm also physically able and fit and I work hard to stay that way, since the commencement of my sophomore year in late August, I've gained about 12lbs of muscle and am only getting better.
I'm never the one to say "I can't do it", I figure out a way to do it. My mom has always told me, "if you're not uncomfortable, you're not growing" and she's right. I have no problem being uncomfortable, I enjoy it because it means I'm doing something right. I like a challenge and I look forward to this one.
Thank you!
