Personal Statement
I am a student first, athlete second. My dad has always told me no matter what happens, sports can be taken from you but no one can take your education. I'm going into 11th grade, I'm currently around 6'0" and 165 lbs. Going into 8th grade I was only about 5' tall, I was dismissed as too small. In three years I have grown over 12 inches and gained around 30 lbs. Those 30lbs were gained in the gym. I play with a chip on my shoulder.
I am a two sport athlete, as I also play slot receiver. I like playing football, I think it makes me a better baseball player. However, my passion is baseball.
I have worked tirelessly at the art of receiving and blocking over the past few years. I have also put tons of hours at the plate.
I hit my first home run in the third game of my sophomore year and our season was cancelled the following game. My goal this coming baseball season is to continue to grow at the plate by batting above .300, continue to hit with power at over .500, increase the number of pitches I see at the plate and no strike-outs.
Behind the plate my goals this year are no passed balls on me, no stolen bases unless we're in a first and third situation, continuing to grow at diagnosing flaws in the opponents swing, and using those flaws to call pitches and get successful outs.
All in all I am a hardworking , coachable player that plays with confidence.
