My goal and aspiration is to have a good college and major league career. What makes me a good candidate for your team is the hard a work that I put as person and baseball player in and out the field. Hector is an athletic OF who is a top prospect on the diamond. In the OF not many balls get down that are hit his way. Range is outstanding as indicated by his 60 time of 6.88. Transfer exchange is smooth as he zips throws (90 mph velocity) on a line through his target. He has the versatility to play all 3 OF spots effectively. At the plate, he continues to shine. He stands in with a solid/strong base and has fluid rhythm to load. Barrel delivery is short/quick with aggression (86 mph exit velocity) as he connects with power driving the ball with power showing best to the pull side. Hector has a tremendous upside and will get looks from the top collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Positional Profile: OF Body: 6-foot-1, 185-pounds. Has thin athletic build, with room to grow. Defense: Fields the ball off the right side of the body, with a one handed gather, presenting the glove early. Arm: LH. OF - 84 mph. Has a long, over the top arm slot. Hit: LHH. Starts with a tall, slightly open set up, hands load back and down, followed by a long leg stride. Swings a downhill, long bat path with some natural lift, stays inside baseball, with average bat speed, is an easy swinger with fluid rhythm. Power: 85 mph exit velocity from the tee. Power approach, driving the ball up the middle of the field with slight pull. Run: 6.98 runner in the 60.

Scouting report: Hector is an athletic OF prospect who showed well at the Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament. In the field, Hector takes a good first step and shows active footwork. He gets into a square position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and gets rid of the ball quickly, keeping his throws accurate with good backspin through his target. At the plate, this LHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a controlled stride. He is fluid getting into a simple load and hits against a strong front side. He takes a smooth swing with fast bat speed, leading to loud contact and strong line drives. Overall, Hector is a talented prospect who has the skill set to contribute at the next level.

Scouting report: Hector A. Candelas is a 2021 OF/LHP with a 6-1 172 lb. frame from Carolina, PR who attends Leadership Christian Academy. Lean athletic build with plenty of room to get stronger. Left handed hitter, hits from an even stance with a late pull back load, hands stay tight to his body through his swing, contact swing approach with middle of the field contact. 7.00 runner at the PG Junior National Showcase, speed plays up during the games, plays with energy and hustle. Long and loose arm from the outfield, tays on top of his throws well, makes accurate on line throws, solid overall defensive fundamentals. Excellent student.

All Tournament Team. Scout blogs: Hector A. Candelas (2021, Carolina, P.R.) had a strong day both at the plate and on the mound for Team Elite of P.R. as he collected two hits and topped out at 82 mph on the mound while tossing three hitless innings. Candelas has a long and lean 6-foot-1, 172-pound frame with lots of room for projection and for strength on the frame. The swing is smooth with a longer swing path but gets some loft to the end of the stroke and allows him to leverage the ball hard to the pull side. The bat speed and offensive prowess certainly stand out for Candelas and his two-way on the mound offers intriguing potential to monitor.

Scouting report: Hector A. Candelas is a 2021 OF/LHP with a 5-11 152 lb. frame from Carolina, PR who attends Colegio Lourdes. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and a lean, projectable build with room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 7.21 60-yard dash. Primary outfielder, shows athleticism to actions with movements to the ball, smoothness to footwork, fields the ball to side and has a clean funnel, gets tall at release and can continue to incorporate additional lower half through the ball, accurate throws and arm strength will continue to develop. Also pitched, up-tempo delivery with a leg lift up above belt, clean and loose arm action through the back working to a three-quarters release while showing some whip. Fastball topped out at 76 mph, short running life to the pitch and filled the zone. Mixed in a fading changeup at 65 mph which served as go-to secondary and a 1-7 shaped curveball which he landed to either side of the plate. Lefthanded hitter, begins with a slightly open stance and wide base in the box, can continue to implement additional shift through lower half. Full swing path through the zone and creates extension out front, linear barrel path through the field with line drive contact coming off, shows comfort working to all fields, projects with additional physical strength. Very good student.
