Hi. My name iks RJ. I will be 14 on April 7, 2024. I've been playing baseball since i was 2yrs old. Here's my athletic and academic story.
Baseball skills: I love the game and am always working hard at getting better. I am able to play just about any position. Here's my favorite positions and where I am most comfortable: short or 2nd, then catcher, and left field* (see story below). I can also pitch when called upon. I am a legitimate switch hitting threat with exit V-lo that is equal from both sides . My coaches tell me that I have a high level of Baseball IQ, I consider myself a solid team mate that works hard, listens and will always do my part for the team and coaches.
Academics: I am a good student and enjoy school. My overall GPA is 4.2. I seem to excel in Math and it's my favorite subject. I also like to read. I'm also a gamer....I am currently at Westshore Jr/Sr high which is ranked #44 in the nation for academics. But - they don't have a baseball program. So i will be attending Holy Trinity Academy in Melbourne Florida for High School so i can continue playing at the next level.
Other Sports: Martial Arts (Tae Kwon Do). I've been practicing Martial Arts since i was five years old. I received my first black belt at 7, my second degree at 13. I am working toward my 3rd degree. I am an assistant instructor for the kids up-and-coming and hope to attain my next degree by the time I turn 16. This sport is physically and mentally challenging. Our manta is: courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self control and indomitable spirit . It's helped me in baseball and at school and how i approach life.
Life Challenge: When i was eleven i was diagnosed with Keratoconus. It was a really hard challenge to face and overcome. It took over 1.5. years to finally find a doctor that understood the condition and could help. During this time, i switched my position and learned to play catcher. This was a really good move for me. It allowed me to keep playing and i really like the position. During this journey, I also learned that Tommy Pham, and Steph Curry have the same problem - it really helped me to know that. I now where a special set of hard lens contacts and do have any issues. But to say that time was a challenge for me and my family is an understatement.
