Matthew Valdes '20 Recruiting Profile

    Going into my senior year of high school, my ultimate goal is to get noticed by a college and be able to play baseball at the next level. However, that is every player's wish and we are all competing for roster spots. I believe that being a good person off the field will reflect your character on the field. Giving up or being lazy in practices and workouts is just hurting yourself and will reflect how you will do when the going gets tough on the field. For me, being dedicated and determined makes me stands out from other athletes. School is another area of importance to me as some athletes do not do so well in school and focus on outside distractions that will hold them back. I want to be the best and have a drive to succeed in school and keep my GPA up as high as I can. I enjoy being a good teammate and lifting those up who may need it when faced with hard times. Creating good relationships with people and being the person that anyone can talk to and get along with. On the field, I can play anywhere in the infield with my strong points being 3B and 2nd. In the batters box, I focus on base hits, being a threat on the base paths, and leading the way for everyone else to follow.  I believe I can make a positive impact to any baseball team on and off the field, committed to getting better and learning something new.
