My name is Connor Wienke and I am from Homer, Illinois. My primary position is a center/left outfielder, but I am also a left-handed pitcher. I also have experience playing first base and right field. I feel that I have a strong knowledge of the game and I am a smart player.
I played travel baseball in middle school, but my parents felt like it was too much traveling to do more than that summer since I have two sisters. I have played some type of summer/fall baseball every year since t-ball and have played school baseball since 6th grade.
I am very competitive, hardworking and motivated. I have loved the game of baseball for as long as I can remember. My goal for baseball is to become the best player that I can be on and off the field. My goal for academics is to get good grades and to be honest and respectful to my teachers and classmates.
I am thinking about an Accounting major with emphasis on Agriculture. My goal is to play competitive baseball and receive a good college education.
Since my high school is very small and only has 130 students I have had to be self-disciplined to condition and train on my own. I work out several times a week at a local gym. I feel that I would bring good character, tough mental and moral qualities to your teams. I have an easy going personality and have always got along very well with my coaches and teammates. I have a positive attitude and can follow and take direction from my coaches. I always want to improve my game and help contribute to my team’s success.
When looking at my size and grades, I would like to tell you that I struggled in school and sports my freshman and sophomore year until I was diagnosed as being severely anemic during the spring of my sophomore year. Since then I have been under a doctor’s care and have finally gotten back to where I should be medically, academically and athletically. My doctor’s told me that I am two years behind in growth and they expect that I will continue to grow in height into my senior year in high school and even after high school.
I am looking forward to finding a school that will give me a great education and allow me to follow my dreams of playing baseball at the college level.
