Hello! My name is AJ Annarella. I love almost all team sports. Baseball and basketball are my favorite. Baseball is my passion. I started playing when I was 5 and have been on travel teams from the time I was 9. Catcher is my main position but love playing the field in multiple positions. When asked what type of player I am , my first answer is “a Team Player.“ My second answer is, “I’m a utility player who loves to be behind the plate.” I started high school this year, 2022-23 and I’m in all advanced classes.
This fall I tried out for Baseball Factory and I was selected to play this winter at the Pittsburg Pirates spring training facility, Pirate City. I'll be attending this event in December 2023, 26th - 31st.
Baseball Factory Scouting Report:08/07/2023 - National Showcase - Chicago, ILAnthony is a lean catcher who has a promising future on the diamond. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. Pop times showed in 2.22 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. With 3 years to further develop, Anthony has potential with time and room to progress his game.
