Matthew Mikec '23 Recruiting Profile

Hi, my name is Matthew Mikec, I have been playing baseball since 1st grade and it has been a dream of mine since then to play baseball in college and to go even farther. I have played for 3 different organizations throughout my time of playing baseball, I started with the Geneva Baseball Association, after that I moved onto Wasco baseball, currently I am playing for Geneva Community High School and plan on staying with them until I move onto college. I am open to playing anywhere collegiately as long as I can keep my baseball career going. Something important is no matter what program I go into I will give it my absolute all and will not only make myself a better player but more importantly the whole team better and want to make the program a winning program. I find it important to be a role model to others because no matter how you are helping, you are instantly helping the whole team. I am extremely determined because I am always working my hardest whether it be team practices and games or working out in the weight room but I also take time outside to work on my individual game and improve to become best possible player I can be.

I also take pride in my schoolwork, throughout my school career I have always maintained A's and B's. Going into college I am definitely interested in majoring in Sports Management. Something else you should know is that I am a multisport athlete, I have been playing basketball since 2nd grade and have found enjoyment but I still definitely want to focus on baseball. Outside of athletics and academics I keep myself occupied by playing in the school band, hanging out with friends and family, going to church, volunteering, etc.
