Personal Statement

I am a 6'2", 180 lb. senior pitcher/outfielder from Hartley, Iowa. I am the son of a former coach and consider myself a student of the game. I have been a varsity player since my sophomore year. In addition to pitching and playing in the outfield, I have considerable time at 3rd base and in previous years, as a catcher. My greatest asset as a pitcher is control and the ability to throw three pitches for strikes. My fastball has been clocked in low 80's and I can cut and fade. My curve ball has been described as "nasty." I am looking forward to participating in a respected program in college. I know that under the right coaching, I will continue to grow as a player and a person. Small to medium sized 4 year college or university with an inviting atmosphere in a community with some things to offer. I would also be interested in possibly attending a Junior college to develop as a player and student. I have over 60 hours of community service during my high school years. I have served at homeless shelters, assisted with youth Bible school, youth basketball tournaments, delivered Meals on Wheels to elderly shut-ins, and I have served as a tutor/mentor at the elementary.
