Personal Statement
My name is Thomas King, and I'm currently a Junior at Valley High School. I started to play baseball at the age of 4, and haven't stopped competing on the field. My parents have motivated me all the way through my baseball journey, and inspire me to keep striving for my dreams. I have learned over the years that determination, sacrifice, and commitment are the skills that have formed me into the player I am today. My primary position is Pitcher, and my secondary position is 1st base. I love the game of baseball. I have respect for the game, and for all of the people I have played with. When I'm not on the diamond, I enjoy working out, or hanging out with friends.
During the season, I was the only left-handed pitcher in the top 5 starting rotation. While competing as a pitcher, I learned many pickoff moves that enhanced my defensive abilities. I am looking for a college program that will be a good fit for me athletically and academically. I believe I not only have the talent to compete for your team, but also the leadership, character and work-ethic that will make an immediate impact on your program. I look forward to being one of the next leaders on your team. I have learned that maintaining a good attitude on the field helps create confidence, which then leads to a good performance.
I am also very competitive in academics, and I strive to get good grades. I’ve been on the honor roll since junior high. I have learned how to balance academics with baseball over the school year. Our coach has pushed us to do just as well in the classroom as we would on the field and get good grades. My baseball coach was a former college athlete, and told us what it takes to be a student athlete. I believe this is what has lead to success on the field and in the classroom.
I appreciate you taking time out of your busy day to read my statement, and wish you good luck for your upcoming season.
