I am a high school junior, class of 2018, and recently started my search for a college where I can continue playing baseball while furthering my education. I believe I not only have the talent to compete for a college team and beyond, but the character, work-ethic, and leadership skills to make an immediate impact. My ultimate goal is to continue playing baseball at the highest possible level, whether that is college, minor league or MLB. My primary position is catcher, although I am a very versatile player and regularly play middle infield and 3rd base. Catcher is a great position for me for several reasons. I find that in any team I am a part of, I naturally assume the leadership role and the other players look to me for guidance. I have a high baseball IQ and deep knowledge of and passion for the game. In the catcher role I am not only a skilled receiver, which my pitchers appreciate, but also a great communicator and an excellent defender with very few stolen bases allowed. I am a strong offensive player as well maintaining averages ranging from .425-.500 across my teams and bat at the top of the order (lead off to clean up).
I have always been a multi-sport athlete, including playing varsity football for two years. I enjoy participating in team sports and being contributing to the team success.
I have played baseball from an early age and chose the catcher role initially because I wanted the opportunity to have the ball as much as possible. I have played for competitive club teams in the USSSA league at the Major level, which gave me a good foundation for high school. One of the highlights of my young career was playing in an Elite World Series event in Orlando. As a high school player, I am proud that as a sophomore, I earned the starting varsity catcher position, was named Offensive Player of the Year and All Conference 2nd team. I also play for the Cavalier Baseball Club (18U) team in the summer and fall, with the goal of furthering my development in preparation for college.
I like to be coached and I like to learn, and I am always looking for ways to take myself and my team to the next level. I am looking for a college program where I can continue to build my baseball skills and contribute to the team's success.
