All I have ever wanted since I picked up a baseball was to play in college, and I know how incredibly hard it is to do so. I'm a well-rounded player, and my arm strength is my best attribute. As much as I love the feeling of striking out a batter, I also love doing the little things to help my team, like laying out for a ball down the line, getting a good read to take an extra base, or throwing out a runner who tagged up.
I love this game and have been blessed with natural athleticism and great coaches. But what separates me from other athletes is my desire to put in the work off the field. I've learned to take good care of my body and I've spent countless hours in the gym, building strength, increasing my flexibility and stamina, and honing my mechanics. Physically I was a late bloomer and I've grown several inches (and continue to shoot up) and added probably twenty pounds of lean muscle in the last two years. I expect this will translate into even higher velocity on my fastball and more power at the plate. I've also worked really hard in the classroom where I attend a prestigious Catholic school and maintain a A-minus average while taking a difficult course load that includes Physics, Economics, AP Art History, and Moral Theology. My faith and my family are also important to me and keep me grounded, especially when the going gets tough.
I know that the work I've put in, on and off the field, and the good habits I've developed will ease my transition at the next level. I hope to make contact with coaches this spring and begin taking visits to see where I will call home, in the classroom and on the diamond, for the next four years after graduation.
