My name is Jalen Wigfall, and I am a graduating senior from Washington High School in Princess Anne, Maryland. I am a true country boy at heart, finding joy in the great outdoors, exploring new places, playing sports, and cherishing moments with my friends and family. Since birth, I've possessed a spirit of compassion that has been nurtured by my parents and extended family. I am a self-proclaimed extrovert, who relishes the opportunity to meet and connect with diverse individuals.
During my time at Washington High School, the proud home of the Jaguars, I have not only excelled in academics but also demonstrated my athletic prowess as a student-athlete. Participating in football, basketball, and baseball, I found baseball to be my primary sport. Along with a strong aptitude for sports, I am equally proud of my 3.1 GPA. As I look ahead to college, my goal is to major in Exercise Science/Kinesiology with a specialization in Sports Management. In addition, I am eager to continue my baseball journey at the collegiate level. I am determined to secure a spot on a college baseball team.
Princess Anne is a small town on Maryland's Eastern Shore, nestled in Somerset County, and it grapples with one of the highest poverty rates in the state. It is a place where many young people face limited advantages and opportunities. My aspiration is to give back to the community that has played a pivotal role in shaping me into the young man I am today. After college, I intend to return to my community and guide the next generation of young athletes through coaching in football, basketball, and baseball, at the youth, high school, or college level, or as an athletic trainer.
I consider myself a team player. I understand that I represent not only myself, but my entire community. Serving others brings me immense joy, and I have actively contributed by assisting with food giveaways at my church, Mount Carmel Baptist Church, volunteering at local elementary schools, and participating in various community events. Furthermore, my passion for baseball has led me to umpire games for the Princess Anne Babe Ruth League and Fruitland Little League.
Integrity and purpose are core values I uphold as I endeavor to set an example for others. If granted the privilege of attending your university, I will endeavor to be a beacon of light for the school, embodying the principles of academic excellence, kindness, respect, and unwavering school pride. I aim to uphold the esteemed standards and values of the institution, both on and off the field.
