I am a 6’3”, 180 lbs. catcher. My goal is to play baseball at the highest level possible. I work hard athletically and academically. Sports and academics are equally important. I wish to pursue a degree in business with the focus on sports, as well as major in Spanish. I have attended a Spanish Immersion school and I am bilingual. I take honors and AP classes. My GPA is a 3.6.
I played on the varsity team since my sophomore year. I work hard on and off the field. I work well with my pitchers and am good at anticipating what will happen next. I play travel baseball in the summer for the Michigan Renegades, USSSA team. I have attended several PBR showcases, as well as, Baseball Factory Select Cape Cod Training. To enhance my performance, I train at Curtis Morgan Hitting Club in Grand Rapids, MI. I also train with Mark Avery Baseball – Auburn Hills, MI for catching.
My experience with sports has taught me hard work and preparation pays off. I look forward to working with my teammates toward a common goal – being the best. I am persistent, dedicated and hard working. I am committed to getting bigger, better and stronger. I love the game of baseball and look forward to playing at the highest level beyond high school.

Hi John,I wanted to let you know that Greg and I have umpired many games together at many different levels of baseball. We really believe that your catcher, Mike Gumbko, is the best catcher that we have seen the last couple years in high school Baseball.
Mike Gumbko does a tremendous job as a catcher both defensively and offensively. He works great with his pitchers, communicates very well with the other players, catches the ball perfectly, keeps the ball in front at all times, and makes plate umpires feel very comfortable so they can call a good game. Also, Mike does a great job with hitting the ball very well and going with the pitch when needed. He has good speed on the bases and is smart on the bases as well.
He is a complete baseball player that would be able to compete very successfully at a high level competitive collegiate Baseball program. We wish Mike the best in his future plans!
