  • To Whom It May Concern: Character: As a coach, the first thing I always want to understand about a player is their character. Jacob checks all the boxes as a player you would want on your team both on and off the field. He is a relentless worker on his development as a baseball player and he also works extremely hard in the weight room. He takes care of his business in the classroom and is an excellent student. Hitting: Jacob and I hit together on a weekly basis through the season using Hit Trax. His Exit Velocity off the Tee is 86-90. He is a very strong hitter to the opposite field and does a great job of staying through the away pitch. I would like to see him develop his pull side power a bit more. Once her learns to pull his hands inside a middle-in fastball he will become a very powerful hitter. Again, he is an extremely hard worker in the weight room and as he continues to add strength his velocity and distance will only increase. Pitching: I have seen Jacob 84-86 off the mound and think he could be a really good pitcher at the collegiate level. His slider is very firm and his arm slot creates a ton of movement on that pitch. Where Jacob needs to develop on the mound is more flexibility through his hips and back. If he develops his flexibility and core strength to be able to be consistent through his throwing motion he would be 88-90 very quickly. Defense: Jacob has a very strong glove and obviously a strong arm. He would be well suited to play 3rd base or potentially a corner outfield position. You want Jacob on your team because he is a solid defensive player and hitter but also there is huge upside in his ability as a pitcher if you let him develop. He continues to get taller and stronger every year and his work ethic is 2nd to none. Thank you, Max Fearnow Stanford Baseball Player 2005-2009 Houston Astros Pitcher 2009-2010 High School Coach and Instructor 2011-2019
