A kid can't grow up in Boston and not fall in love with the game of baseball. Ever since I attended my first Red Sox game, I have aspired to play at every level, including in college. I know that playing baseball in the collegiate ranks is an opportunity that will further enhance my development as a player, teammate and individual, and offer life lessons that will serve me well.
My parents and coaches have always recognized me as a leader and fine teammate. I am very coachable and strive to be one of the hardest working players and one of the hardest working recruits you’ll find.
Currently, I am a starting RHP for Ridge High School in Basking Ridge, NJ. When I am not starting games, I am called upon to serve as a game-ending specialist, and brought in for final innings and pressure situations. Rarely do players want this responsibility, but I thrive on it. It requires confidence and mental toughness, as well as trust in my physical abilities and faith in my teammates.
My coaches recognize me as a strike thrower with a velocity of 80-82 MPH and 3 pitches (fastball, curveball and change up) that can be located in any count to both sides of the plate. In my first start of the season on a senior-heavy pitching staff, I threw 5 shutout innings allowing only 1 hit against North Hunterdon, a quality Group 4 school and division rival. For all of the 2016 season, and as a Junior, I produced a 0.48 ERA, the lowest on the team, giving up just 1 hit and no stolen bases.
In the classroom, I also apply myself and maintain a high GPA, taking advanced courses that deepen my academic pursuits. Outside of the classroom, I also try to give back, volunteering for my Church, Catholic organizations, and at local youth baseball camps for physically and developmentally challenged kids like Buddy Ball. In addition to baseball, I also have a great passion for the guitar, and excel at rock and blues with a desire to continue my musical aptitude in college which will compliment my professional interests in entertainment/sports law and journalism.
I want to attend a college where I can push myself in the classroom and on the diamond. I am open to all options and want to ultimately find the right college environment at the highest level of competition possible. In doing so, I am confident that I will set a fine example for my younger brother, my peers, and to future aspiring ball players that I come in contact with who also love this great game.
