Personal Statement

I am a very versatile baseball player in that I can do everything from hitting for contact to playing anywhere in the field. I play mostly catcher and first base but also play third base when called upon. I am 5’8 (expected to be 5’11-6’0) and 165 lbs. I am a junior at Moorestown Friends School and I have been on the varsity baseball team ever since freshmen year.

I have been playing baseball since I was 7 years old and immediately found a passion for it. My travel team won the New Jersey U8 District 5 championship and many other tournaments along the way.  I have a very good baseball IQ because I know what to do in every situation on the field. I have a good hand to eye coordination and quick hands. I have raw lefty power and can hit to all three fields on a consistent basis. Along with my batting skills, I am a very well rounded catcher. I have a 1.9-second pop-up time and good footwork behind the plate. I have a strong arm and I can control a game very well. I am one of the two coach-picked captains on my school team of my team. I am also a very hard worker during games and practices because I strive to be the best form of me I can be.

Off the field, I study very hard and have a high GPA (3.7). I am in three honor classes in which I have A’s in all three classes. I am the president of the spikeball club and am involved in multiple other clubs at my school. Outside of school, I’ve played piano for my church every Sunday for the last four years. Outside of church, I have been playing piano for 11 years and I have performed at the Lincoln center twice and won gold prize several times for NJMTA. The piano has become a huge part of my life because it has taught me very valuable lessons of persistence and dedication.

I want to go to college and play baseball but I also want to attend a college where I can enhance my overall knowledge and push myself to be a better person. I am open to exploring all colleges because I want to find the right one for me.
