When I was 9 years old my father sat me down along with my older brother and sister to tell us my mother was just diagnosed with throat cancer. She started radiation treatment not long after that and although the next 6 months were incredibly painful and difficult for her she never let us see her cry, never skipped a day of work, missed one of our games or school events, and, even when she lost her ability to talk for a few months, she would always let us know "I got this". My whole life I have been raised to endure and succeed in the face of adversity and to fight to reach my goals. I work hard in the class room, on the field, and in my community to do my part to make whatever I am involved in better. My father played football in college, my sister is playing soccer at New England College right now, and I want to be the next member of my family to have academic and athletic success at the next level.
Thank you,
Shawn Lennan
