James Macko '23 Recruiting Profile

My name is James Macko and I am a 16 year old junior at Seton Hall Prep. in West Orange, NJ.  I am a pitcher and infielder for one of the best high school baseball programs in the state of New Jersey and coached by Michael Sheppard who is regarded as one of the top high school coaches in the country.  I currently have a 3.6 GPA at an extremely academically challenging high school. During the winter I train at Total Arm Care in Wharton, NJ and during the summer, I play for Hustle Baseball Academy which is based in Fairfield, NJ.

I was recently named a Rawlings/Perfect Game Preseason Underclass All-Region honorable mention for the northeast region as well as a 2023 Baseball Factory Preseason All-American.  

My character is best described by my daily effort to overcome Type 1 diabetes while thriving academically and athletically.  For me, this is a challenge, not an excuse.  It has made me a stronger person.

My goal is to play college baseball at a competitive program with strong academic standards.  A college where I can grow athletically, academically and personally.
