My name is Lukas Wightman, but my teammates call me "Wighty." Baseball has been my passion since I was a baby, with stories from my parents about me holding a bat as soon as I could walk. I've been a catcher since tee-ball, and I absolutely love it! Being in the action and communicating with my teammates is what drives me.
I believe that playing catcher is a key position as it allows me to see and know everything that's happening at all times. I enjoy getting to know my pitchers and working together with them as a team. My goal is to play college-level baseball and, hopefully, make it to the MLB as a catcher. Additionally, I play other positions such as pitcher, 1st base, and 3rd base.
I consider myself a coachable athlete, always taking my coach's feedback seriously to improve not just myself but the whole team. I'm versatile and can play anywhere on the field, always willing to help where needed without being asked.
In addition to playing travel baseball, I take private lessons during the off-season and attend various baseball camps. I've participated in events like the Baseball Youth All American games and constantly work on bettering my skills.
Outside of baseball, I also participate in soccer as a goalie, ski for my school team, and swim. Despite being involved in multiple sports, I prioritize my academics and baseball training. I strongly believe that teamwork is crucial for success, and I always strive to support and uplift my teammates.
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me.
