Hello, my name is Matthew Torres. The first time I picked up a Baseball bat was on Christmas when I was 4 years old. It wasn't until when I 9 years old when I truly fell in love with the Game of Baseball. When I joined little league and started playing the game, I knew automatically that I have a chance of continuing to play at the next level.
I am a team player and and when I play the game I focus less on my personal stats because I am a believer for stats to speak for themselves. Yes, having personal stats is great and can help me get to where I want to be, but that's not what the actual focus is my focus is, how to reach the next level. My actual intentions for playing at the next level is to win games. I care more about the team winning a championship, so if that means getting a sac bunt down, and getting myself out, to advance a runner, then I would gladly take that.
Being able to play at the College level, I have to do whatever it takes to keep my grades at a successful level. I must always remember that I am a "STUDENT-Athlete", not just a regular athlete, therefore, maintaining my academics is the priority of it all and the most important aspects of being successful future both athletically and having a successful career in the field of my profession in Sports Medicine. I have already started internalizing this field in High School , there is a sports medicine program and this is great for me because the idea of helping other athletes really motivates me. Math is my favorite subject, so other occupations such as business and architecture, also fascinate me.
Attending a College where I can challenge myself academically and play Baseball at the next level is one of the most important goals for me in my life, and also my Family's life. Being accepted would not only make my Family proud, but my self.
