Personal Statement
Hello - my name is Conner Rush and I am a junior at Maine Endwell High School. Over the past 10 years I have played the sport I love – baseball. I am extremely dedicated and work hard to improve my game so that I can pursue my athletic career at the next level. I train year round with a personal trainer at Synergy Athletics and also work with former Florida Marlins’ batting coach Matt Raleigh at his local indoor facility on both hitting and catching.
In addition to my focus on improving athletically, I work very hard on my academics. I have been a gold honors student for the past 2 years (achieving a better than 95 average) while taking multiple honors courses in math and science. I also participate in many extracurricular activities such as International Club, SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions), Student Government (I have been Treasurer of the school for the past 2 years), and volunteer at my church.
My past accomplishments have included catcher for the Little League World Series Champions in 2016 (our team was 24-0 and won the Jack Losch Sportsmanship award as well), catcher on the winning team for the Perfect Game Super 25 New England Qualifier, and catcher on the winning team for Prep Baseball Report East West Battle.
I feel that my ability to build relationships with coaches and teammates extends far beyond the field. As a catcher, I have spent time with my coaches talking about strategies on how to approach a line-up, I have spent time working with pitchers on how to work a batter, and I have lead the team by calling defensive plays throughout the games. Additionally, many of my closest friends have been my teammates.
On top of all my drive, coachability, and leadership qualities in athletics I am an extremely conscientious student. I am looking forward to finding that great fit both on the playing field and the classroom.
