Baseball has always been an escape for me to take my mind off of reality. It has been my rock, my source of stability, my whole life. I learned at a very young age that any chance I get to step out on a baseball field is a gift and honor. The sport pushes me to simply do better in all aspects of my life, and devote the same amount of hard work into academics. Recovering from an injury has given me a chance to truly appreciate every chance I get and to make the most of even the worst situation. It has also given me a chance to learn resilience and heart, to come back to the sport fully healthy after not being able to walk. Having to sit on the bench and watch my team perform without me was heartbreaking, however I was given a great piece of advice by my coach, to take that opportunity to study the game and be an amazing teammate and supporter for the players I go to war with. I have always cared about the success of the team and my teammates, and this eye-opening experience only heightened those qualities in me. Baseball is a hard sport, and it takes grit and a level head to deal with the failure that comes with it. I try to preach this to myself and my teammates when inevitable adversity occurs.
It has been my dream to play college baseball and take my game to the next level my entire life, and I am willing to work harder than ever to achieve those goals. I have learned that the more work you put into your game, the more confident and calm you play, which is therefore what I always try to accomplish on the field. I have realized that the more calm I am on the field, the more fun I am having enjoying the game which is everything for me.
