Personal Statement
My baseball team’s greatest achievement was having the best school record in 30 years and taking the NBC Championship in 2017. However, my greatest achievement was overcoming adversity and outworking everyone on my team to become the best baseball player I can be.
My junior year of high school brought a new head coach and a new beginning for me. I began working with a personal trainer, hitting & pitching coach, and I spent countless hours training on my own. I gained nearly 30 pounds of muscle, improved my throwing speed by 15 mph, and improved my batting exit velocity by 10 mph. That experience helped me grow both physically and mentally. I learned how to not fear failure and how to have a positive mindset. I learned that being a positive spark can completely change the way that a team plays. I also learned how hard I can push myself to improve every single day.
I have played baseball for as long as I can remember. I became interested in the sport after I realized I could hit well, and I loved to watch home run derbies to see how the major league players hit. I have been on my high-school team for four years. I have learned how to improve upon my mistakes, lead teams that struggle with confidence, as well as lead teams that exude confidence. I'm looking for a program that will be a good fit for me athletically and academically, as I aspire to obtain an engineering degree. I believe I not only have the talent to compete for a college team, but the character, work-ethic, and leadership skills to make an immediate impact on your program. As a four year team captain, I know that I have what it takes to be a leader on your team!
