Personal Statement

I am John Schneider I would love to get a scholarship to any school for baseball. I am a freshman in Washington highschool in Massillon Ohio and I have been working out everyday for the past year. I also like to play chess, play football, wrestle, and I am 1st chair in my schools freshman band. I won my fall baseball leauge with 12 homeruns and my batting average was 0.850 out of 50 at bats. I have been told by many coaches that they like my work ethic and not giving up and always trying when things may get difficult. I am also taking a HP science class and a junior math class as a freshman and I have a 4.25 GPA.

ROAD TO OMAHA PROSPECT CAMP

The "Road to Omaha" Prospect Camp will consist of a thorough evaluation by the Kent State Baseball coaching staff of an individual’s offensive, defensive and pitching abilities. A prospective student-athlete will be expected to showcase themselves in a pro-style workout where they'll run a timed 60-yard dash, make plays and throws at their respective defensive positions, and then go through our offensive circuit. The offensive circuit will consist of multiple stations where they will receive their exit velocity, BLAST metrics, and hit BP on the field. Pitchers Only (P.O's) will execute a bullpen session.

Jonathan is a C/RHP in the 2027 class. Behind the plate, he plays with outstanding effort and works hard at his craft. He shows a strong target and has pocket awareness. His exchanges are clean and gains a short 3 qtr. slot for a 2.45 pop (70 velo). On the mound, he shows a repeatable delivery and keeps his eyes to the target. Engages his lower half well while using an over-the-top release. His FB sat 68-2 and gaining more extension on his release, he can deliver more velocity. His CB stays down in the zone and shaped 10-4 at 59-60. His CH is his best pitch and sinks down in the zone at 53-4. At the plate, he has a balanced approach and uses the middle of the field well. Sees the ball well with a quiet head and minimal movement. Uses a short stride to generate consistent contact. Overall, Jonathan is a rising player and scouts feel he has a bright future.

Cape Cod Select Training & Competition (MS)

Jonathan is a 2027 SS/RHP out of Massillon, OH who improved his skills during the BF Select Training and Competition in Cape Cod. At SS he tries to create good fielding angles and keeps his eyes behind his glove. He squares his shoulders on his throws to first base with a recorded arm velocity up to 62mph. On the mound he works exclusively from the stretch. He separates his hands on-time and has a controlled landing. He attacks hitters with a FB that topped out at 65mph with plus command, and a developing changeup. In 1 inning of work, he showed good fastball command and induced soft contact. At the plate he hits from an athletic and open stance with high hands. Shows good plate discipline and tracks pitches well. In live game action he was hit by a pitch and made consistent contact. Jonathan worked hard and made adjustments the whole week in Cape Cod. We look forward to seeing him at another event in the near future.
