Swing Evaluation ...Personal Statement
Hello,
My name is Luka Dodig. Currently I'm 17 years old and in my senior (grade 12) year at Holy Cross Catholic Academy in Vaughan. I’ve been playing baseball for over 11 years now, and it’s truly become my passion. Baseball is my favourite thing to do and ultimately what’s most important to me is doing my job so that my team's chances of winning are greater, and that comes from me being focused and prepared. I do everything that I can to help my team as I'm a committed and coachable team-first player. I selected Holy Cross as they offer a very popular High Performance Athlete (HPA) program that allows athletes more freedom and flexibility with their academics while at the same time providing a higher standard of competition and opportunity. Another thing I'm proud of is my maintaining of a 4.0 GPA through grade 12, and I'm confident that I'll be able to keep that up for the remainder of grade 12, eventhough the courses and curriculum get more challenging. When I graduate in 2025 my dream is to earn the opportunity to play NCAA baseball for a top college, to compete and to help them win and to continue pursuing my education at a very high level. I am a hard worker, a good teammate, coachable, and will do whatever is necessary to help my team. I believe in participating in physical activities and working/studying hard, because it helps me lead a healthy and balanced life. My dad works in the field of nutrition, so I believe in taking care of my body, which will help me become more of an asset to my team to help them perform better and ultimately win. My ultimate dream is to one day I'll play baseball in the major leagues and be able to help inspire others who are starting out in sports. I still have a lot to learn and a lot of room to grow and develop over the next few seasons. I'm just very thankful and excited about having this opportunity to reach my goals. I look forward to hearing from you.

- This was a great event that featured over 100 of the top prospects in the greater Toronto area. Luka was evaluated on his speed, defence and hitting prowess and he showcased very well. Luka continues to make progress and keeps getting bigger, faster, stronger and better. He is committed to baseball, is coachable, hardworking and is poised to be a top player in 2024!

- Great job and keeps adding to his numbers and confidence. This was strictly a hitting clinic and hitting is Luka’s #1 strength. He’s a gap to gap contact hitter, next step is to add more raw power to his game.

- Luka turned in a great performance playing with primarily 16 year olds, as the youngest player on the team. He was given the moniker “rookie” because of his age but he ended up as a consistent starter after a few games. Luka’s game really progressed and grew with this experience

- Luka has excelled at this hitting camp and he has been able to improve his batting average and lead the team in batting average the last 2 seasons. He has learned swing fundamentals and continues to make the required adjustments to become the best professional hitter he can be.
- Future Stars Program - Baseball Zone
- 2 years
- Young players are working on their baseball fundamentals (hitting and pitching). It is intended for advanced players who have a desire to pursue baseball at higher levels. It is a very comprehensive program that some of the best Canadian baseball athletes have taken.
- Best of the West tourney
- 1 year
- Only team in eastern Canada to qualify and attend the premier Canadian tournament.

Are you in honor classes?
Yes. Maintaining an average of over 94% in his fourth year of high school. Luka is considered a gifted child and attended a gifted program referred to as P.A.C.E (programming for academic and creative excellence) during his junior and middle school years. He received a more challenging and thorough curriculum than his peers. This has better prepared him for his high school curriculum. Luka is aiming to continue maintaining his 94% average throughout his time in high school.Are you in AP/IB classes?
