Personal Statement
Hello, my name is Aaron Palmer. I am a 5'10" 175 pound senior (2014) at New Oxford High School in New Oxford, PA. My primary position is LHP, and my secondary position is OF. I throw 5 different pitches, a 4-seam fast ball, a 2-seam fast ball, a change-up, a curveball and a cutter. I have been told my change-up and cutter are my best pitches. When I think of how to describe myself, I think of baseball. I started playing baseball at age 5, and although I tried other sports such as soccer and basketball, nothing else felt as good as being on a baseball field. I have played baseball every spring and fall since age 7 and began playing on summer all-star teams at age 10 through age 12. At age 13, I started playing summer travel ball, and I have played travel baseball through the summer of 2012. This summer, 2013, I am playing with Elite Baseball of Lancaster, PA on a showcase team, and I plan to continue playing with them in the fall. I would love to continue playing baseball at the college level and I am willing to work hard to get there. Currently I am working with a personal trainer, Brett Swope from Elite Sports Performance in Spring Grove PA. I have worked with a pitching coach, Gavin Osteen from Mid-State Mavericks and I am now working with Matt Werts from Elite Baseball. My plan is to attend college for Exercise Science/Fitness Training with the desire to one day work with athletes so they may achieve their goals. I would also one day like to coach. I currently have a 3.01 GPA. I have volunteered my time with a one day Make A Wish event by working in the concession stand. I also volunteered with our middle school football program, taking videos of their games during my 9th grade year of high school. I have been involved with Cigarette Restitution Fund in Carroll County MD where I worked with the Carroll County Law Enforcement to help prevent tobacco sales to minors in Carroll County. This school year I will be participating in a peer mentoring program at our high school where I will be paired with about 10 incoming 9th grade students to mentor throughout their 9th grade year. I helped with a youth baseball clinic during the summers of 2011 and 2012. This summer I will be working for the local recreation park coaching youth baseball. I am excited about my future both academically and in baseball.
