I want to be a part of a baseball team in college at the D1 level. I have been playing baseball for almost 14 years. My primary positions are pitcher (sidearm) and outfielder. I was recently named one of the top center fielders in Tennessee in the 2023 class by tnvarsity.rivals.com. My high school coach knows I can play just about any position which makes it easier for him to field a workable team. In addition to pitching, as a junior I played 1st base and outfield as a varsity starter. My sophomore year, I played 2nd base and shortstop on both the JV and Varsity team. My submarine/sidearm pitching is unique and allows me to keep batters off balance. My footwork and closing speed enable me to get to balls in the outfield that would otherwise be base hits or extra bases. I am a heady base runner and take good angles on the base path. I am working intensely this year on increasing my muscle mass, waking up a 5 a.m. every morning to go to the gym before school, in addition to working out with the baseball team. My stats from my junior year of baseball are: .408 AVG, .521 OBP, and 25 RBIs over 101 plate appearances.
My goal is to graduate from college with a degree in Finance and to play at the highest level of baseball. I received the Team Award from my baseball coach my junior year. He has remarked that I am his most consistent player. I am disciplined (6 years of cross country running helped with that) and coachable. I care about my teammates and maintaining a positive attitude on and off the field. I love baseball and am very athletic. In the past, I won 1st place in the county meet for the long jump, have run the 400 relay, played basketball in our community's recreation league with my schoolmates, have played a year of football, and continually strive to maintain my athletic capabilities. In XC, I was 17th overall in the state finals where our men's varsity team won its second straight state title, and as a freshman I participated as an alternate on our school’s state championship men's varsity team.
I will be graduating from my high school's IB program in May 2023 and currently maintain a 3.96/4.00 GPA while enrolled in the full IB program at school, including many HL (high level) IB courses. I have been taking honors courses that count toward my high school transcript since the seventh grade.
I want to be part of a baseball team at the D1 level and know that given that opportunity, I would become a valuable member of the team because that is important to me. I believe in treating people with respect, taking care of my responsibilities, and competing at the highest level of which I am capable.
