Personal Statement
My Name is Rylan Crane. I live in Salina, Utah, a small town right in the middle of Utah. I love being outside and enjoying the outdoors! I enjoy many sports and activities, but baseball is my passion.
I attend North Sevier High school in Salina, Utah. North Sevier offers a small town environment for the students and the teachers, and has also allowed me to play every year on the varsity team. My favorite subjects are: Business Management and Biological Sciences. I am a one sport athlete all I do is play baseball, I play baseball 9 months out of the year. I have a saying "There are two seasons, Baseball and winter!"
I work with a pitching coach few times a week, His name is Danny Nelson he is a branch trainer of Tom House. Tom has clients such as: Tom Brady, Aroldis Chapman, and many other famous athletes. I work with him to increase arm health, strength, and proper fundamentals. My goals for the start of the season are to increase velo speeds and also to increase proficiency on the mound.
Since I attend a small school in a small town, I have had to play on travel teams during the fall and summer with older players. Every weekend from when I was 8-14 my parents would drive me 2 hours to play competitive baseball and get exposed to better players than I was used to. I was always one of the top pitchers and catchers on my travel ball teams.
My freshmen year I lettered as a varsity baseball player and was credited 3 wins on the mound. My sophomore year I achieved a state championship and was the winning pitcher on the mound. In addition, I hit a grand slam in the state championship game and lead the team to a 7-9 victory. I was then awarded 2nd team all state.
My summer schedule involved:
-Going to 3 high school tournaments.
-Going to a perfect game showcase.
-Working out with my pitching coach.
My schedule for this season include:
-Playing for my high school baseball team.
- 2 high school tournaments in Utah.
-Playing with a travel ball team out of Salt Lake City [scout team]
-Playing in Omaha Nebraska [scout team]
-Playing in Tempe AZ [scout team]
-playing in Albuquerque New Mexico [scout team]
-Going to 3 perfect game show cases.
-Playing with a 2020 CBA team made up of 2020 grads throughout southern Utah
It is my desire this year to again lead the state in many key stats and to show my improvements that I have made in the off season. Also, to bring home again another state title!
My deep desire to achieve excellence both academically and in baseball has taught me to manage my time well. I play sports year-round and attend a highly competitive high school. I feel blessed that I have many supporters among my family, friends, and coaches as I pursue my dream of playing college baseball.
Here are a few of my greatest achievements and profile from last year:
