Personal Statement
Hello, my name is Sam Vandrey, an aspiring college baseball player. I am an extremely hard worker on both the field and in the classroom. I currently have a 4.0 GPA, and I am a three sport athlete at Rappahannock County High School. In every sport I play I progressively get better every year, and always come back expecting to become better, and fearing to be called adequate.
Something I pride myself in is my academic excellence. I make All-A Honor Roll year in and year out, and I am taking advanced classes for my age. I always try my best in every situation I find myself in and usually work out a solution. Two aspects of my game are also applied in the classroom including being quick witted and making good decisions and a great work ethic.
I have a great work ethic and always try to find ways that I can better myself on and off the field. I am respectful and listen to my coaches when I told to perform a task, and if I do not understand what you are asking me to do I ask questions. I constantly go over film of myself hitting, fielding, and pitching to see what I did wrong so I can perfect that in the future. This is what pushes me to better myself.
I currently play for Team Virginia Mizuno- Graham 14u team. We play tournaments every summer from late May to early August for a spring season, and play from early September to early November for a fall season. We have team workouts twice every week in which I am a regular member, and I also do my own workouts. I have also received four lessons from Jonathan Nunnally a hitting coach in the Pittsbutgh Pirates organization.
I would be constantly working hard for you and our organization both on the field and in the classroom. I would also be always looking to better myself academically and fundamentally. I have received pretty high end training and am extremely intelligent. I can not wait to be playing for you in the future.
