Personal Statement

My name is Hunter Penrose.  I attend Cedar Park High School (CPC) in Bothell Washington-Class of 2023.

Due to covid I did not have the opportunity to play baseball as a freshman.   However, as a sophomore it was a highlight of my season to close 5 of 6 end of season varsity games and to letter..

As a freshman, I lettered as a starting O-lineman (strong tackle) and subbed in on D-line.  While I have enjoyed playing football for the last 7 years, my passion is Baseball.  Due to this, baseball has become my sole focus as I move forward.

I believe I would be a good asset to any team.  I am willing to put in the long hours needed to be a better player.  When I am not working on school or  with my team I attend Driveline Baseball 6 days a week to strengthen myself as a pitcher.

I have been told that I am a coachable player and I greatly appreciate all the time my coaches have put into helping me become a better player.   While being recruited at the 15u level I took the time to talk to both the new coaches who offered me a position and my current coach, to discuss what the upcoming year would look like for training etc.  Knowing my ultimate goal is to play college ball, I went with FCA as I beleive they have the best program right now.  I then called back each coach to inform them of my decision and to thank them.

My dream school is U of Washington because it is so close to my home and I have grown up watching them play. They also have a good athletics program and great academics which is very important.  It is also my Dad's Alma mater.  Two other schools I would love to attend are Oregon State and Vanderbilt because they have amazing programs.  I feel I could really do great under these.  That said, I know there are many strong D2 and D3 and NAI type schools that I would also be excited to play for and attend.

Bottom line, I believe I could be a strong asset for any team and  I would be excited to play for any school that is a good fit both academically and for baseball.
