My name is Morrie Solam and I am from Renton, Washington. I am a junior at Hazen High School with a 4.0 GPA. My education is very important to me. I carry a full schedule year around with family obligations, school work, baseball training and additional strength/speed training. I enjoy all the work and I have learned to manage my time very well. I have a great time with my family. I am very close with my brother and sister. I am proud of my big sister who currently plays college softball and my younger brother who is carving out his own path as a competitive catcher. My parents are amazing, they have helped and guided me throughout my life and I appreciate them beyond words. My mother ran track and played softball in her high school days while also competing at the select levels. My father played baseball through high school and on into college as an elite pitcher.
I play high school baseball for Hazen High School and Coach Jordan Seiber. My freshman year I was awarded with the workhorse award which is given to the hardest working player in our high school program. In my sophomore year I was given the Mr. Highlander award which is given to the player that shows the most leadership skills, commitment, and all around playing ability. In the same year I was also awarded all-conference honors after only being able to play half of the high school season because of a broken thumb. I play summer/travel ball for Baden 18u Black Sox also with Coach Jordan Seiber. I have played competitive travel baseball for the past 7 years. I currently train weekly with my hitting coach, Coach Andre Marshall at Boost Baseball. I work on my speed and agility training weekly with Coach Jason Musselman. I work on strength training 3 times per week with my coaches at Hazen High School. I enjoy working hard on and off the field. I will never take a play or rep off. I strive to be the best player and person I can be. I push myself and I motivate my fellow players to achieve goals. I am a leader. I will lead by my actions, and I am not afraid to hold myself or my teammates accountable. I love to compete, it is in my DNA. I want to win but I love the grind and the steps it takes to achieve goals. I want to play for a school that wants to compete for championships every year.
Outside of baseball I am interested in music, chess, and spending time with family and friends. I want to play for a college that will give me the opportunity to grow as a baseball player, student and person. I am excited for this journey and look forward to it.
