Ricky West '16 Recruiting Profile

My name is Ricky West. I have played baseball since I was three years old. Ever since I walked onto the baseball diamond I fell in love with the game, and knew it was the game for me. I am extremely excited to try to take my abilities as a student athlete to the next level. As a student athlete I understand the commitment it takes to succeed. I am willing and able to do whatever is necessary to accomplish the standards that are set and expected of me by my instructors and coaches both on and off the baseball field. I accept and approach instruction with an open mind and positive attitude no matter the degree of difficulty. I try to apply what is taught to me, so I am able to lead by example to my classmates and teammates.

My general goals as a baseball player are to work hard, so I am able to excel in the weight room, practice, and games. My specific goals as a baseball player are to improve on my pop time, swing speed, catching mechanics, and work ethic to become the best player I can possibly be. Understanding that education is the first priority as a student athlete, my goals as a student are to study hard in the classroom and try my hardest to earn good grades. I want to take advantage of every opportunity that comes my way through academics and baseball. That is why I want my ideal college to be one that fits my talents and qualities as a student athlete the best. I know through hard-work I won't have any regrets or questions if I give it my best.
