Personal Statement
As someone who has a passion for baseball, and love of sciences it is my goal to earn a bachelors degree in biology or a related field of study while I play baseball. I believe my skills as a player would be an asset to any college's baseball program. I am a versatile infielder with a strong arm and a knack for digging ground balls and errant throws out of the dirt. I have also been called on by coaches to pitch in certain situations as I have a very decent curveball. I am also a threat at bat and am classified as a "power hitter," but continue to strive for consistency as a hitter.
I am a humble person who cares about my teammates. I consider my teammates success to be mine, and mine theirs. Coaches have always considered me to be "coachable" as I don't pretend to know everything and am willing to learn and develop new skills. I am eager to improve my game. I believe in always leaving it all on the field, and if my uniform is clean at the end of the game then I didn't play hard enough. My ultimate goal for baseball is to have a college career and end it as a starter and team leader. Perhaps with a chance to play professionally.
My love of baseball comes from my dad, who spent many evenings with me growing up playing catch and taking ground balls before he went to work. It also comes from my former foster brother. Before I was adopted by my forever family, I lived with another family who had a son that was older than me, but he was very much into baseball. It was my goal to emulate him and to play baseball like he did.
For me highlights of my athletic career have been earning a 1st Team All Conferenced award as a Varsity 1st baseman, Making Junior Varsity as a Freshman, and being selected to play for my traveling team. I am also proud of my perseverance in football, after loosing my starting position to an injury and significant playing time my Junior year, I am proud of my self for staying with the team and earning back my starting position for this season.
For four years, I have challenged my self in high school by taking a harder than average class load and taking AP courses. I would rather earn a "hard C" and learn something than take an "easy A" I hope to become successful in both baseball and college and hope that launces me into a career that I will someday love, or a shot at professional baseball.
