Personal Statement

Coaches,

To say I love the game of baseball is an understatement, I live and breathe the game everyday.

On and off the field I am a natural, accountable, and hardworking leader, striving to be the best version of myself and for others.

As a 16 year old passionate young man that happens to be gifted at the catcher position, I use the gifts I’m given to handle my pitching staff and control the game to the best of my abilities.

On and off the field I choose to be a role model to those around me time and time again.

My family and I are always conscious of my academics. When I find that I’m struggling, I always use all resources available to me to achieve the highest academic standards. And as a student athlete I strive to reach my goals and balance the lifestyle I love.

I know once in a collegiate  program I will continue to work as hard as I possibly can to be the best student athlete possible.

  • Marek Wawrzyniakowski is a 2025 C/RHP, 3B with a 5-11 179 lb. frame from Milwaukee, WI who attends Catholic Memorial. Physical build. Behind the plate, he sets up in a square crouch with soft hands that receive out front. Quick upon reception, gains ground and transfers quickly into throws that showed decent strength. Aside from the first two throws, he was mostly around the bag. 1.89 pop. Right-handed hitter, wide base, even stance, and high hand set. Load creates solid separation and is quick to impact. Strength in the hands shows when barreled. Line drive oriented approach through the middle of the field. Flashed backspin gap power throughout the round. On the mound, its a quick uptempo delivery with compact arm stroke and high three-quarters release. Pounded the corners with the fastball. Occasional cut to the fastball. Curveball has 11-5 shape with good depth. Changeup is average for the age with decent fade and similar armspeed. 7.49 60-yard. Good student.

  • + INF Marek Wawrzyniakowski (Catholic Memorial, 2025) made another appearance on the 2024 showcase circuit, putting his strong athletic build and above-average hit tool on display. The junior works from a wide set-up, getting to a strong hitting position on-time. His bat speed, which stemmed from a flat path and efficient use of his body, allowed the ball to jump off his bat to both gaps at up to 90.8 mph. Wawrzyniakowski showed quick feet on defense, moving well laterally before showing off his soft hands. The arm worked up to 80 mph from multiple angles with accuracy, looking the part of a capable defender at the hot corner in the long run.

  • + C Marek Wawrzyniakowski (Catholic Memorial, 2025) is an athletic catcher with strength and room to mature physically. At the plate it’s a controlled gather into the back side, landing on-time toward the pitcher in a controlled manner. Wawrzyniakowski creates good separation and uses his quick, strong hands to hit the ball hard in the air to the middle of the field. The Catholic Memorial junior showed clean actions defensively - a quality receiver with soft hands who also showed the ability to smother balls in the dirt. He has a quick transfer with a repeatable, accurate arm that allowed him to run pop times down to 1.97 seconds.

  • + C Marek Wawrzyniakowski (Catholic Memorial, 2025) presents a projectable frame at 5-foot-9, 160 pounds in a catcher’s body. At the plate, in a slightly open stance, Wawrzyniakowski gets to a strong hitting position and whips his barrel, featuring a strong swing that stood out at the showcase. His max exit velocity peaked at 90 mph, an impressive feat as a member of the 2025 class. Wawrzyniakowski will continue to project as a future hitter, as we’re interested to see where his power at the plate takes him.

  • Marek Wawrzyniakowski (2025 C, Milwaukee, WI) is a projectable young prospect with a loose and athletic stroke. The primary catcher has a lot to like on both sides of the ball and provides plenty of offensive upside at a premium position. He even flashed some power, as he drove a ball deep into the pull side gap. Wawrzyniakowski has quick actions behind the dish, firing out of his stance and getting rid of the ball quickly, and accurately, to second base. He has a loose swing at the plate and is consistently on time and makes hard contact to all parts of the field.
