Personal Statement

I have been a cheerleader since I was in 7th grade. When I first touched the mat I knew that I wanted to be a cheerleader in college cheering on the fans to scream for our team, but I knew trying to make the college cheer team was going to be no walk in the park. So I needed to work hard jump higher than anyone else, get my body lines straighter in the air, and work harder on my tumbling to set me apart from anyone and everyone.

I have strong body lines in the air, strong-flying capabilities, and am determined to try each and every new skill I see. I am a team player and like to treat everyone equally. What I always say is no one gets left behind! With saying that it doesn't have to be in cheer it could be meaning if we all are doing conditioning we all need to cheer each other on to push harder and lift each other up. I am very coachable and easy to approach, I would never give any type of attitude towards a coach or an athlete in any situation.

I work hard year-round on my coed flying and my tumbling as much as I can. I am always willing to try a new pass or a more challenging coed stunt. Even if I get hurt I come back with a fighting attitude to try even harder. I have had three cheer-related injuries in the five years I have been cheering. My first injury is that I broke my growth plate in my wrist in Atlanta Ga. backstage I was getting ready to perform and we had one more mat to go until we hit the competition floor. Well, I bailed in back handspring causing me to put my hands down at the wrong time and I snap my wrist. My second injury is when I sprained my ankle, nothing too serious but still hurt really bad, I was coming down from a stunt and my bases didn't put my feet on the ground gently and I rolled my ankle coming out of a squish. My last injury is when I got cut by an elbow! I know sounds crazy but it can happen. I was doing a front flip into my base's hands and my fill-in backspot didn´t move her elbows quick enough and it hit my head just right causing there to be a huge gash on my head and permanently leaving a scar.

In a classroom setting, I will always try my best to get all A´s. Usually, I get  A´s one B, or  A´s two B´s but never below that. I strive to get a 4.0 GPA for my senior year. I am taking harder classes to challenge myself at the community college near my high school. My first two classes at Davidson Davie community college were Psychology and English 111 I finished both classes with A´s and am excited to say that I signed up for four more classes! I am going to be doing some volunteering my senior year to help the community in any way that I can.

I want to attend a college where I can constantly push myself with my teammates on the field and my classmates in the classroom and aim to be the best that I can be. I am open to everywhere and would love to find a community where I can be the best version of myself. I hope to become stronger and to be a great role model to my peers and to make my family and friends proud of the person I have become.
