Personal Statement

Hello,

My name is Tyerin Aranda, and I will graduate with the class of 2025.  I am an Oklahoma girl turned Texan and live in the rural panhandle, on the border of these two states, in a farm community called Gruver, Texas.

Growing up, I quickly learned the value of hard work and discipline through competitive sports.  I started as an itty-bitty three-year-old on a gymnastics team where I competed in double mini, floor and trampoline.  Tumbling set an incredible athletic foundation for me, and I soon found myself in a competitive softball, basketball and cheer atmosphere. I'm so thankful that my parents let me follow any passion I ever had because I truly feel that given the opportunity to learn and compete at high levels made me a well-rounded athlete, equipped to handle adversity and find ways to overcome and achieve.  Over the course of time, I quickly learned that time itself is a very valuable thing.  There isn't enough of it to go around and devote as much needed to everything in order to be above average successful.  At this point, I have narrowed down my passions and have stuck with the two that I enjoy the most and pour my heart and soul into.  Running comes in at a close second but my ultimate passion is cheerleading in any form.  There is just something exhilarating about taking the mat with your team, knowing you have worked so hard as one unit and have a single, two minute and thirty second opportunity to have everything come together!  It's a rush of adrenaline that will never get old.

I feel as if I am a good candidate for any college cheerleading program/team for several reasons. First and foremost, I understand the importance of TEAM.  In a sport like cheerleading, every single working part is so important, no matter how big or small that role may be. Everyone is working for a common goal.  There is strength in numbers and those people become your go-to and your family.  Next, I am confident that my work ethic is above average, and I constantly strive to be the best version of myself.  I’ve set goals from a young age and push toward them every day in one way or another.  I love learning new things and being challenged.  Living in a rural community means having to drive multiple hours, one direction, several days a week for practice and travel many weekends.  That requires a large amount of sacrifice and my family & I have been at it for years.  I feel that is what makes me the most different from other recruits.... believing that if you have a goal or a dream, you do not have to be a product of your environment.  You can live outside of the box & work to chase your own aspirations without being limited by your demographic or lack of resources.  Anything is possible if you put your heart and mind to it and you can always try to create your own opportunities that catapult you to the next level of success. I am not a stranger to meeting new people or being pushed out of my comfort zone.

Other qualities that I feel make me a good candidate are my strong morals and sense of self.  I always try to exemplify integrity, respect, reliability, courage and humble confidence.  I try my best to be a leader...usually a silent one that leads by action, rather than words and make it a priority to be someone you can count on. I understand that being a high-level athlete is a continuous, ever-changing work in process and a lifestyle.  I am a strong tumbler, performer, and quick learner still with room for improvement and growth and I am willing to try anything stunt wise.  Flying and/or basing.

The last things that may make me different from other recruits stems from work in my first two high school years.  In addition to being a cheerleader, I currently run cross country and track...both of which I was a state contender in.  For the 2021-2022 XC season, we were the Texas State Bronze team finishers.  I was also named TGCA & CCCAT All-State.  We came back hungry for the 2022-2023 season and finished as the Texas State Runner-Up team.  Again, I was named TGCA All-State.  I had a successful 2022 track season, qualifying for the Texas state meet in Austin as part of the 4x4 relay team, placing 5th overall.  Completed that season as a TTFCA Track & Field All-Stater.  As this season comes to an end, I am looking to be just a successful as the last.

As far as academics go, grades are one of my top priorities and I feel that I put in the work in the classroom.  I have had straight A's for my entire high school career up to this point and it's my every intention to keep a 4.0 GPA throughout my school years and carry it over to college.  I am currently working to also graduate high school with an Associate's degree under my belt.  In the near future I would like to attend a college that not only feels like "home" but also presents me with opportunities for growth and sets me up for success in my adult life.  I am highly interested in a degree in dental hygiene/orthodontics and would love to also cheer to get the full college experience.  I am interested in both/either co-ed or all girl squads that compete at Daytona, have a fun sideline atmosphere and possibly do STUNT.

Thank you for your time and for visiting my profile!
