Alyssa Palmer '16 Recruiting Profile

My name is Alyssa Palmer and I am a Field Hockey Goalie. I started playing Field Hockey my sophomore year in high school and earned the spot as the starting varsity goalie by the first game. It was at this time that I developed my passion for the sport. My Junior year I earned 2nd Team All lLeague honors in the highly competitive Sunset League. After my junior season, I was selected as captain by my coach and the graduating team captain for the upcoming 2015 season, my senior year. As captain of the team, I am learning the skills necessary to be a team leader. I am learning how to listen to my teammates and motivate them to do their best. After my Futures training and during the 2015 Cal Cup, I became confident in my ability to play at the collegiate level, having played and succeeded against several committed D1 players.

            In addition to playing field hockey, I started wrestling my sophomore year, and was one of the original members of our schools first girls varsity wrestling team. Being a wrestler helped me get into the best physical condition of my life, and I can now outrun most of our varsity field players. I have also learned to push myself to the limit and beyond and to dominate both on the field and on the mat.
