Tendu. Pirouette. Arabesque. These are three things I worked on during my eight years of ballet from kindergarten to 6th grade.
When I was 11 years old, I discovered field hockey simply by seeing sticks and balls at the sporting goods store. My dad asked if I wanted to try it and I said yes. I signed up for a summer camp and then trained with a club where I was selected to its U14 Elite Team playing F/M. Then, I started focusing on new terms including tomahawk, sweep, and hit.
After one year I joined my current club, RUSH Field Hockey. Ballet classes and performances started to conflict with field hockey trainings and games. I was faced with a choice - field hockey or ballet. I loved the art, technique, and beauty of ballet, but I was also falling in love with the competitiveness, strategy, and teamwork of field hockey. I chose field hockey and have not looked back since.
Now for my club team, I play D/F and compete in both U16 and U19 divisions. In high school I play forward and attacking mid. I realize there is also art, technique, and beauty to the game of field hockey as well. I love the sport and hope for the opportunity to play in college.
I have been told that I am coachable, have great vision, and am a great team player. I enjoy the challenge of playing the back line and tackling, intercepting, or channeling opposing players away from the goal, but am versatile enough to also help my team by pushing forward and advancing the ball playing mid or finding the open teammate with assists or taking shots as a forward.
Academically, I excel in my classes and strive for high achievement. After my freshman season, I received the Academic Award for having the highest GPA on my team. Currently, I am receiving straight A’s with a 4.0 GPA. I understand the importance of being a complete student-athlete and have the time management skills, discipline, and commitment to succeed in both academics and field hockey.
Please consider following me on my journey of growth and development as a player to see if I would be a good fit for your program and school.
